Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a videographer?
Videographers are trained to look for the most important moments, likely the memories that you
will want to remember. You can always have a family member do it , but we will get the all of the
coverage that is important to you now, as well as the moments that will be important to you 20
years from now. We will be there from start to finish, do our task with no interference from family or
friends, do not participate in dancing, drinking or any other of the other daily activities, nor are there
to tape our own children and most favorable friends and family. We are there for you the entire day
and to get everyone and all the events you most care about on camera. Our equipment is
professional grade, which will give a more crisp picture, less camera movement, better audio and
we do all of the editing for you. You get the best day of your life on DVD, with your choice of music,
photo montage and it is all done with professional demeanor and quality.
Why do I need a wedding video, I have pictures?
The only way I can answer this question is to tell you why I am glad I have a wedding video. Mark
and I have been married for almost 14 years. In those years we have lost parents, grandparents,
great aunts and uncles as well as other loved ones. I get so much joy out of putting in my wedding
video and seeing my grandfather dancing, my husband dancing with his grandmother, hearing the
sound of my father in laws voice, and being reminded of those memories that may have been
forgotten, had we not taped our wedding. We also get to go back and really see the difference in
the time periods, (clothing, hair styles, slang), see how much our friends, family and even
ourselves have changed through the years. You see with wedding video, you don't just get a
photo, you get to see movement, emotion, talking, laughing, crying and you get the memory in
visual and audio. I am not saying photographs are not just as important, because they are, but
your wedding video is priceless.
How long have you been in business? Who are you?
This is only our second wedding season. However Mark and I have been avid videographers within
our family for years. We have always been the ones to have the camera ready, putting all of the
footage on DVD for everyone as Christmas gifts. Which for the same reasons above, has been
priceless to our family members. We have always had the best cameras and software, which is
updated every year. Although we have taken internet courses to brush up on some of the skills we
needed, we do not feel having schooling as backup is always necessary, if your good at
something you just are, it comes natural to you. Vidoegraphy is just something we love to do, it is
more than a job for us, it is a passion if you will. We both have day jobs, this is something we do
because we enjoy it and the joy it brings to others. We let our work speak for itself.
Mark and I were born and raised here in South Bend, IN. Mark has worked for my family owned
business Torok Excavating for 15 years. I have owned my own pet grooming business for the last
5 years and we are home grown and firmly planted in the community.
Are you the one who will be videotaping my wedding?
Yes, when you hire us you get either Mark myself, or both as videographers. Other than assistants
that may take some candid shots. Mark and I do all of the main camera work. Depending on the
package you choose and how large the wedding is, you will get one or both of us and a possible
assistant.
How many cameras do you use?
Anywhere from 1 to 3 depending on how large the wedding is.
What kind of lighting do you use?
Camera lighting and soft studio lighting for the reception.
How many microphones do you use?
1 to 3 and a lapel mic for the ceremony.
How do you edit the wedding video?
Non linear (computer) and the most up to date software.
Can I have my wedding on DVD?
All weddings done by us are on DVD. We also use light scribed DVD's, which means that the
image is burned directly in to the disc, no sticky labels that will fade and gunk up your dvd players.
How do you stay up to date in the video business?
We go to yearly seminars and stay up to date with video education magazines and the best tool
ever the internet.
What other services or special effects do you offer?
We also offer transfer services, special fades for every occasion, photo montage, highlights of you
events, sporting events and much more. See our Services page.
What about the contract?
We can email you a copy of our contract if you would like to see it. We will go to your rehearsal
upon request and we will schedule either an in person or over the phone meeting a few weeks
before the wedding to go over everything and make sure we are on the same page. You are
guaranteed finished product within two months of the wedding date.
What will you charge to videotape my wedding based on the coverage I am looking for?
Please see our services and package pages.
Why is it important to have the copyright release?
It is important to have it because you never know what can happen in the years to come. This way
you have it and if the technology changes you will be able to have it transferred to the newest
format. Without the copyright release you will have to come back to us to have it transferred, no
other company will do it for you without the release, if something unfortunate were to happen to us,
you would be stuck. Perfect examples are the old 8mm films and Beta tapes.
How do you conclude your pricing?
Right now, we are probably the most affordable videographers that you can find. We believe in
being reasonably priced so that those with even the tightest budget can still afford us! This is only
our second wedding season and although we are very comfortable with our equipment and events
of a wedding day, we do charge appropriately. As we gain more experience year after year we will
continue to raise our fees. This is our initiation period into the market.
When you are paying a videographer, only a fraction of the cost goes to the time we spend at the
actual wedding locations. The rest of the fee goes to the editing time. We can easily spend 30-50
hours in the editing chair per wedding. This is what will get you the best quality dvd possible. It
really is money well spent. If you don't think so now, you will in 10-15-20+ years!
